BMW G 650 GS
Our first choice for the London to Magadan expedition was the BMW G 650 GS, this light manoeuvrable BMW is the ideal choice for this expedition. When the going gets tough, and it will, having a light agile bike from such a fine stable of motorcycles was an obvious choice.
Reliability will be everything on this ride and we are confident that this bike will deliver.
The modifications made have been modest, however we have fitted a bash plate, crash bars, Barkbuster hand protectors, headlight protectors and added a top box, along with a decent stock of spare parts.
We look forward to putting the BMW G 650 GS through its paces.
BMW R 1200 GS
The ride leader bike is the venerable R 1200 GS. This is certainly a bike that does not need any introduction here. Fitted with panniers at least this big bike will be easier to pick up when Mick, (the ride leader), drops it again and again.
Toyota Landcruiser Series 80
Our support vehicle of choice is the Toyota Landcruiser series 80. Fitted with a powerful 4.5lt petrol motor, this go anywhere vehicle will be ideally suited to the hardships to be experienced on the London to Magadan expedition.
The landcruiser comes equipped with a bulbar, roof rack, Sunraysia rims, snorkel and UHF CB along with numerous other features to make life as comfortable as possible while living in the wild.
Being towed by the landcruiser will be our high clearance off-road single axle trailer purpose built for the London to Magadan Expedition.
Camping Equipment
We shall be camping for 30 nights during this expedition, these nights, camped amongst magnificent wilderness, always feature highly in the expeditions highlights. Just because we are camping doesn’t mean we have to rough it. See what a Compass Expeditions camp site includes.
Tents
All our tents are the 3 person Coleman 3CV, every client has their own personal tent, these tents feature the improved Circle Ventilation™ system for better airflow & reduced condensation and a permanently attached LED night light conveniently located next to the gear organiser. A single room tent with side windows and vestibule
Cook Tent
Our cook tent is the military style Tunnel Tent and is huge. This tent can easily accommodate all our cooking equipment, tables and up to 10 people, great for those times when the weather isn’t the best.
Stove
Our stove of choice is the Coleman duel fuel burner allowing us to use petrol for cooking in the great outdoors. We have 2 of these cookers allowing us to have up to 4 burners at a time going, great for those 3 course meals.
Camping Mat
The 4WD Mat is a quality camping mat that will provide you the BEST NIGHTS SLEEP. They are a foam mattress inside a velour and PVC cover and roll away conveniently into a bag when not in use.They are superior in performance to an air bed and insulate from the cold, and are far less prone to going down in the night!!
Bush Toilet
While camping, for privacy, we always erect a bush toilet, better than stumbling around in the dark at night.
